"Mercury 225" Concentrator
The concentrator one-phase "Mercury 225" are devices for data collection in low voltage electric lines. They are designed for reception, accumulation and storage of data of consumed electric energy transmitted from consumers' power meters “Mercury ” equipped with integrated PLC-modems. Concentrator provides storage in its nonvolatile memory of current energy consume data on every tariff from each meter of network in coverage area and also storage of final date's data of six previous months. Concentrator receives data from one phase and consequently 3 of them are needed.
Concentrator provides:
- synchronization of data transfer by register device;
- synchronization of internal clock in multi-tariff meters according to its local time;
- transfer of control command to meters;
- Data broadcasting for increasing area coverage;
- Connection of additional controllers and devices for data transmission by various connection channels through RS-485 port.
- Direct PC connection by USB port.

| Maximum quantity of meters connected to phase
220 V in sector of network operated by “Mercury 225” concentrator is 2048 pcs. The distance range of stable connection without additional intermediate retranslation is from 300 to 1000 m. |
| General provisions |
On one side the concentrator is connected to one-phase or three-phase network through the jack of PLC-interface and on the other side – to the serial port of either PC or industrial controller.
After the required configuration and internal clock setting, in the system the concentrator starts performing part of a receiver and accumulator of the packets, come to it from meters on phase cables of the power line.
To store the received packets, there are realized two buffer accumulators: so called "Buffer of the last packets" and so called "Buffer of the last months". Number of “seats” in each of them is equal to the number of the meters supported by the concentrator. Besides, the concentrator has so called “transparent” operation mode, in which the received from the meter packet, apart from storing in the said above buffers, goes immediately to the transmitter buffer of the serial port.
Configuration of the concentrator is carried out with the help of program "BMonitor.exe" and consists in setting the size of the supported by it network and operation mode choice (“transparent” / “opaque”).
At the network size in 16 devices the packets from each of them go to the concentrator with interval of about 3 minutes. At the network size in 1008 devices this interval makes about 14 minutes.

| Operation procedure of concentrator |
1. Plug PLC-interface connector to segment of one or three phase network. Plug to the same segment one or couple meters with PLC modems, see the picture.
Attention! Before using the meters it is required to assign them “working” network PLC- addresses within the served by concentrator network capacity, this procedure is carried out with the help of so-called "Mercury 223" technological modem.
2. Connect USB port of concentrator to USB port of PC with correspondent cable.
3. Supply concentrator and start the "BMonitor.exe" program.
